Ben Derudder is Professor of City Science at KU Leuven's Public Governance Institute. He is the Director of the KU Leuven Urban Studies Institute (LUSI) and Associate Director of the Globalization and World Cities (GaWC) research network. His main research interests are (1) the conceptualization, analysis, and governance of world city networks and (2) the (putative) emergence of polycentric urban regions across the world. His research has been published in leading academic journals, and he co-authored the second edition of 'World City Network: a Global Urban Analysis' (2016, Routledge, with Peter Taylor). He held a Marie Curie Fellowship at Monash University (Melbourne, Australia, visiting professorships at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (Nanjing) and Shanghai Normal University (Shanghai), and is presently one of the editors of Regional Studies.
